Beauty Tips for Pageantry

There is a plethora of information concerning beauty tips for pageantry. I thought for this article, we would start with the basic and essential items for that glam factor in your pageantry arsenal.

Skin Care

It all starts with your skincare routine. A proper skin care routine is essential for establishing the BEST foundation for which to build your make-up on. The basics include a cleanser, exfoliant, toner, moisturizer, and foundation for the most flawless looking/feeling skin.

Choosing the best skin care line for you can involve trial and error of sample sizes on your part or a consultation with an esthetician or dermatologist. What matters most is that no matter the product line you choose, sticking to the basics I mentioned, works best.  All the components of a skin care line (cleanser, moisturizer, exfoliant, etc) were formulated to work in combination.  I highly recommend keeping your cleaners, day creams, night creams, serums and such, all in the same “family.”

Pageant Makeup

Makeup is remarkable whereby it can completely transform, create illusions, or simply just enhance your natural beauty. There are several YouTube and DIY videos available for any gal looking to get her glam on. Most anyone can literally learn pageant makeup by watching a ton of videos.

Whereas makeup is a fun hobby for me, I like doing my own makeup most times. For those who struggle with proper makeup application, I recommend hiring an esthetician or a make-up artist to provide you with a consultation. He or she will be able to assess your facial structure, skin tone, and skin type. Based on his/her assessment, you will be provided with information concerning the right color pallet to use, what make-up line is best for your skin type, and even the proper means for storing and carrying your make up.

I use a huge square tackle box from MAC that could double as a weapon for self-defense.  It holds everything any pageant contender needs.

Your Take-Aways:

  • You will have to acquire a great pallet of makeup, from stage to everyday makeup.
  • You will need a professional makeup brush set.
  • You can either learn the skill of makeup application from YouTube for DIY.
  • Hire a professional to either teach you or apply your make-up for you.
  • You also need an amazingly, fully-functioning, all-encompassing, chic-looking bag that can carry everything you need to look fabulous from the neck up.

Pageant Tips on Lips

How painful is the whole lipstick crisis? It does not stay on. You leave marks on your water mugs, other contenders cheeks. Worst scenario, your gorgeous gown now has a red smear on it! Let’s not forget those moments when you are smiling on the stage or in the interview room only to expose your lipstick-painted teeth!  Yikes!

You will want a lipstick that is smudge proof, bleed proof, drink proof, teeth proof, and even waterproof. You will also want a brand that doesn’t get dry and flaky. I recommend brands that use a hydrating mix of vitamins E and C and beeswax in their formulas.

Here is a lip-smacking recommendation.
